Here you have a heartwarming little, addition to your holiday decor – A charming ornament, perfect for your Christmas tree.
This cute little bird features movable wings and head, allowing for lifelike movements that make each bird look unique and very expressive. The joints are very strong and does not easily break.
How to print
The printing process is a breeze, requiring no support and just some good bed adhesion, alongside a little amount of infill. The eyes and the beak must be glued in.
You can optionally add feets or a small clip for attaching to a branch.
The wings can be attached either way, and rotated freely to create multiple expressions.
For my birds I have used cheap stone/paint markers to add a little extra life.
Let your creativity take flight as you paint and play with different designs. I look forward to see the beautiful species you will create. Enjoy the journey of bringing these sweet, little birds to life!

You can create jointed designs like this too!
My hope is that this little model can inspire to use joints for more than actionfigures/persons. I know joints will not give you print-in-place models, but using them can result in very great looking and interesting figures, due to the poseing possibilities.
Here is a little guide to easily make simple joints. The female connector is the one that needs the most work:

- Make a circle and extrude it (Here the circle is 18.9mm, extruded 6.5mm)
- Add a chamfer
- Add a ball (Mine is 7.7mm) on top of the model, and move it up a bit
- Mirror copy the model
- Move and copy the model to wherever we need a female joint. You do not need to use all the chamfered part. But for the head we need it to extend the movement.
- Make cuts to the main body (Substract the female joint form the main body)
- Redo wherever needed
- Male joints is, basically, just a stick with a little space in the middle on both ends and a ball that is just a little bit smaller than the female joint ball (Around 0.2mm in my design) Download my model to inspect further how the male joint looks.
Bonus tip: When designing animals, start by creating a half model, then mirror-copy it when most of the model is complete. This may save you half of the work.
Have fun!
Update: Eyes was not included in the first release. They are now. Sorry.
