Flair sells a “shot mirror”, but I had a 70mm (2.75in) mirror lying around (taken from a makeup clamshell) and decided to make my own. It's just so you can observe the underside of the basket while pulling a shot.
The zipties and stand in the photos are not related to this model, you can ignore those.
Printing/Slicing:
- All models are already oriented properly to be able to print without supports. I recommend 0.2mm layer height.
- I recommend printing with 4 or 5 perimeters on the “Ball Joint Stem”, “Mirror Back”, and “Base Attachment” parts.
Hardware:
- 70mm (2.75in) round mirror
- 20 or 25mm M3 screw + nut (optional)
The M3 screw is just to keep tension on the ball joint. It would probably work without it, but I recommend using it.
Assembly:
- The “Mirror Frame” screws onto the “Mirror Back”, holding the mirror in place.
- That mirror assembly then snaps onto the “Ball Joint Stem”, which can slide into the slot in the “Base Attachment” (I would recommend gluing the stem in place).
- Add the M3 screw + nut (I used a locking nut) to the back of the mirror assembly and tension to your preference.
- The “Base Attachment” just snaps onto the back-left corner of the Flair 58 base.
In the end it's a bit of a silly thing but I have loved being able to keep one eye on the pressure meter and the other eye on the delicious espresso oozing out of the basket.
