Numerous designs exist for stabilizing camping stoves with feet.

I experimented with a few but found them somewhat inadequate. They lacked a secure grip on the gas canister and felt flimsy. Seeking better stability, I devised my own solution.

My design has wider legs compared to other designs, and each leg functions independently.

They rely on the lip encircling the bottom edge of the gas canister. Each leg uses the stove's weight to push the top of the leg against the canister's side, ensuring exceptional stability.

Although I haven't tested these in the field yet — planning to do so in early 2024 — they seem very stable during my home trials.

They are easily 3D printable using PLA. Printing them on their side without the need for support works well. I  used 10% infill and 2 perimeters. The total weight for three legs printed in this manner was 37.5g (V2) - for those keen on ultralight hiking gear.

---- Update - Latest Version V3 ----

I've now added a new version - Please see the V3 files.

This now:

  • Has a lip at the top, so a rubber-band can hold all legs in place (as inspired by comment from @ElektronikWor_203229). I used a "No.64" (87x6mm) rubber-bands, and this makes the legs super secure.
  • Has corrugations on the base of the feet for grip (as suggested by @MatejTrakal_629461) to help with the grip.
  • Is a bit thinner to help reduce weight (10mm rather than 16mm). The rubber-band makes the extra width unnecessary. These are now 26g for 3 legs (including rubber-band). An added bonus is that the rubber band can be used to bundle the legs together for transport.
  • Added a chamfer on upper edges (not bottom as I didn't want this to interfere with grip/clip)

I'll keep the original files here too, in case you don't want the rubber-band version
