Mobula8 Battery Holder
The original Mob8's frame has a very tight fit for the higher capacity 2S batteries, often requiring force to clear some parts of the frame and the micro USB jack.
I designed this battery holder mod for the Mobula8 to accommodate the largest 2S batteries I have for longer outdoor flight time. At the same time, I also want the flexibility to be able to fly 1S batteries indoors, all without using battery straps.
An earlier design iteration had a cutout in the holder floor to reduce weight, but it did not survive a (unplanned) crash test. So now the holder is solid all throughout. The 1S Bracket still has a triangular cutout in the ceiling because I don't believe strength is needed there.
The Holder is a snug fit for my 660mAh 2S, and it has enough friction on the sides to hold the 550mAh 2S. The 1S Bracket is snug around my 1S battery.
Instructions
The Battery Holder should be printed standing on one end. Support is required for the overhang that's part of the clips.
Some post-processing may be needed to clean up the support interface as tolerance is tight between the clips and the Mob8's frame. I used flush cutter here to trim away excess plastic.
The components printed great in PLA at 0.2mm layer height.
Cut the bottom of the original frame by following the red dotted line in the photo.
