The base of the clip gives a 3mm support surface which lays on the original Bambu front cover and, when assembled, the side covers.
At least on my P1P the original design did bit bend down in the middle due to lack of support surface.
The clips can be connected at the front and the sides just by pushing in the ventilation holes.
