Wooj Chess Set

Two years ago, I was struck with an overwhelming desire to play chess. Being the designer that I am (e.g. insufferable) I committed myself to designing a set rather than purchasing one from a store. Needless to say, I didn't end up playing chess until last spring when I finally made some time to work on the set of my dreams.

So here it is! I was considering selling these (I run a 3d printing company called Wooj - we primarily make lighting) but the amount of time to produce them versus what we might be able to sell them for didn't make it worthwhile. However, I'd still love to see these out in the wild so I'm releasing them for free!

They are optimized for printing, and are roughly tournament size. If you scale them to 70-80% they work nicely as a travel set.

I printed mine a with a .2mm layer height on a .6 nozzle. 3 layer perimeters and 80% infill (grid) yields a really weighty and substantial feeling set. But the model is pretty amenable to a variety of settings depending on your patience. Reduce the infill if you don't care about the weight.
