INTRODUCTION:
A 3D printed hay ball, that is stuffed with hay for livestock. The livestock then eat from hay ball and roll it around to gain access to more hay. It is based on a dodecahedron.
It was around a 500g print, and cost me around $12.50(US dollars) to make.
Mine was printed for my sheep and it holds up just fine for them.
PRINT AND PRINTER SETUP:
Printer large format printer around build envelope of 14"(355mm) cubed or you can scale it.
Filament used, PETG filament
Does require supports and support it generously. I tried to minimize supports and had some issues see the left and right of the picture done near the build plate(picture was taken while part was still printing). My next print will have supports there.
USE:
Fill it full of hay and let the sheep play.
END OF PRODUCT LIFE:
This is made from PETG, this will not biodegradable or compost. If your recycler can take it please recycle it.
FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS:
Increase eating port size, while it is currently sufficient. I feel it could be a bit bigger and changing the shape. Unless you are trying to slow feed.

- Added a twice the wall thickness model. The wall thickness is now around .125" (approx 3mm) for that model

- A new enhanced version is in the works, the Multi-Ball. It will be more than just a hay ball. However, the first prototype failed due to support issues. Reprinting with some different settings.
