DEPRECATED:
I would recommend taking a look at my colour-changing bed lamp project as it offers significant improvements over this one.
This project is intended as a prototype for others potentially to build on, but it is buildable as is.
I was intending originally to add some sort of shade or diffuser.
I wanted to build a lamp that would be friendly to eyes at night, but also allowed a good amount of white light at times when it was needed. For entertainment purposes, I also added a “mood lamp” mode where the lamp “breathes” in different rainbow hues.
Here is a small LED lamp I made from scratch using an Arduino Pro Mini, 24-LED NeoPixel ring, a small button and Micro USB breakout.
Printable parts, FreeCAD source and Arduino sourcecode and a basic schematic are included.
This thing really could do with a remix adding a shade perhaps.
Printable parts:
All parts are designed to be printed without supports at a layer height of 0.2mm with no bed adhesion.
The parts are designed to be fastened together with M4 brass threaded inserts but may be able to be fastened without.
There are hollowed-out sections for the Pro Mini, Micro USB breakout and tactile button in the base. Wiring is threaded through a hole up to the neopixel ring.
BOM:
24 LED neopixel ring
Arduino Pro Mini
Micro USB breakout (here is the one i used)
120-300R 1/4W resistor.
16x16x12 tactile button
Some 0.2mm enamelled wire. I got mine from the transformer out of an old plug in phone charger.
4-8 M4 threaded brass inserts
