QuadLock MagSafe Adapter with TPU ring

About

I liked the original model, but found it hard to ‘force’ the MagSafe charging puck into the adapter. Hence I modded it a bit so I could insert a soft TPU ring between the adapter and the charger. It's a better fit and holds well.

Printing

I printed the adapter in PLA-CF, and the ring in TPU 95A (both black). You can use ABS or PLA for the adapter as well. ABS would be a bit stronger and shouldn't warp with this size.

Ring

• Layer height 0.16 or adaptive (advised on Bambu X1C)
• Avoid crossing borders/perimeters
• Print sufficiently slow when printing TPU
• Look at the specs of your TPU and adjust bed and head temperature to be nicely in range
• I used ‘eryone’ TPU and the BAMBU TPU-95A profile
• No supports

Some stringing is normal with TPU, use a sharp knife to remove the strings. If you see extensive stringing, dry your TPU for 9/12h.

Adapter

• Layer height 0.16 or adaptive (advised on Bambu X1C)
• Print with supports
• Use a strong material like PLA-CF, PETG-CF or ABS
• Infill 20% rectilinear
• Border loops 3

Assembly

1. Press the TPU ring into the adapter, with the outer ridge downward, so that is retained by the adapter
2. Align the slot for the cable
3. Press in the apple MagSafe Charger
4. Use ;-)

Use

I suggest using the adapter either directly with your phone, or with a phone case that has an additional magnet ring for extra adhesion strength. Using a case without magsafe ring might not hold on bumpy roads.

Disassembly

1. Use a wooden or plastic pin (e.g. toothpick) of <3mm diameter to push the magsafe charger puck out of the adapter via the release hole in the rear.
2. Take out the adapter and optionally the TPU ring.

Customisation

1. Various 3d party magsafe chargers can be fitted by adapting the width of the TPU ring. The including ring fits the official apple charger
