I wanted to reduce the screen vibrations on my R1250GS and keep the functionality of easy height adjustment and access to the GPS navigation locking system. I didn't like the commercial options. The system clamps onto the BMW GPS mounting bar so you must have this option fitted. Most of the improvement comes from just the right hand side but the left hand side finishes it off for me.
There a four parts for each side and I have successfully used both PETG and ABS during my development phase, I don't recommend PLA. I used 0.2 layer height and 50% infill for strength. Supports on build plate only.
The left hand side assembly requires 2 x M4x20mm bolts (I used button heads), 2 M4 nuts and 1 x M5x20mm hex head bolt and nut all stainless steel.
The right hand side uses 2 x M4x20mm bolts (I used button heads), 2 M4 nuts and 1 x M4x15mm bolt and nylok nut all stainless steel.
Fitting is a bit tight but it needs to be firmly held in-place, just slide the frame mount pieces down along the outside of the GPS mounting rail. It will bottom out and be obvious by the moulded shape of each mount cupping the GPS rail as per the photos.
Remove the screen from the bike, one T25 on each side, then remove the windscreen trim screws (2 x T25 for each side) and fit the screen brace pieces under those screws. Reassemble. Insert M5 bolt on RHS with the nut inserted into the large knob. The LHS guide bushing uses a self locking nut and needs to be loose enough to not bind but tight enough to limit unwanted movement.
Corrected the hardware size, should be M4 where the original stated M3 for some of the pieces.
