The images show the concrete model at normal size and the smaller printed model was at 50%.
I modelled it with the mould in mind, so the face has a 5 degree draft angle on everything, apart from the straight outside edges.
Model dimensions are:
Height- 100mm
Width- 88mm
Depth- 56.5mm
STL’s include regular model and the mould:
- Thwomp
- Thwomp-Extended Base Points
- Makes printing easier and provides more support for concrete model
- Mould
- For printing with custom support added
- Mould Assembled
- Shows how to assemble the mould
- For scaling without custom supports getting in the way.
Thwomp mould:
- Print mould face plate at 45 degrees as in the grouped STL. It provided the best compromise between detail and overhangs.
- Can also work for the regular model as it removes need for suport in the mouth
- Print with brim to ensure bed adhesion
- Mould STL has custom support added. To Scale the mould use the parts in the assembled STL as they don’t have any added features.
- Supports are attached by a single line so can be removed with a craft knife.
- Registration notches prevent the face being installed upside down.
- You need to use mould release as it tends to grab layer lines even with the built in draft angle. I used wax, and used hot water to remove it from the concrete after.
- Hold the mould together with string or elastic bands.
