This is a Lithophane holder, lamp, lampshade, that holds 6 slide in Lithophanes making it easily customisable and updatable with new scenes. I like how flexible it can be with scenes of family, cartoons, music groups, super heros, sports teams, events etc., which can change and be updated over time.

All parts are printable without supports or brims -except the lithos themselves, which I'd recommend having a brim.

The simplest is the lampshade. It has three parts plus the Lithos. 1 The base is a simple disc with a recess for the litho holder and a centre hole that should fit standard Bayonet light fittings, 2 the crown shaped Litho holder and 3 the lid, again a simple disc with a recess to locate onto the top of the Litho Holder and Lithos.

The slightly more complicated rotatable lamp version has a base designed to house a bearing and USB cable for the lamp and a rotatable table that fits over the bearing and also has a circular recess for the crown shaped lithophane holder. Both the Lithophane holder and lid are the same for both lampshade and lamp.

Bearings

The bearing I used was a 6304 with a 20mm ID and a 52mm OD, which might seem very heavy duty but I wanted the ID to be large enough to fit a USB cable through and I had one to hand. There are some print in place bearings that should work as there is no real load on it and other options like cutting and soldering cables, in fact it might not need a bearing at all if the turntable was printed with a hole to fit the spindle, but using a bearing was a simple fix for me. Having said that, a USB cable fitted through fine but I bought some with a switch and they had a thicker plastic casing so in the end I had to trim it to fit.

A Note on the Lithophanes used.

I used the online site itslitho.com to print all the lithos. They are all square in shape and it is probably simpler to format and crop the images you want to use first but the site does have some edit options. With the exception of choosing Arc as a Shape under the Model Tab all settings were kept at default. The images I used in itslitho.com started as 100mm x 100mm but the Arc option changes the size slightly so the size I've adjusted it to, which I find fits the Litho Holder well, is a height of 101.6mm, which gives a width of 97mm, and is enough clearance to slide nicely into the holder. I suggest printing the crown shaped holder first, then a sample Litho to check the fit.

Lamps and cables

I've used an inexpensive USB lamp and a switchable cable. These are easily found on sites like AliExpress or TEMU. The cable I choose was 2m long, giving enough cable to plug the lamp into an outlet. I also use adhesive rubber dots, also available on these sites, to give nonslip feet on the lamp.

Assembly

Building either lamp or lampshade fairly self explained. On the lamp the bearing fits down the centre spindle on the base and the turntable fits over the bearing. The USB cable slides up through the base spinle and plugs into the USB lamp that sits on top of the spindle. The cable then pushes into the cable recess on the bottom of the base. Even though the cable was a fairly tight fit into the cable recess I also used a little glue to prevent it from curling out.

The crown shaped litho holder is then glued into the recess on the turntable or lampshade base.

The lampshade base and holder could be printed as a single part without supports but I liked the option of having a separate holder that can be used for different projects but if someone is only printing the lampshade, these can be joined as one in most slicers.
