Experimental, Needs physical modification of gear
Slimmer version of the ProtoXtruder v1 using the original hgx gears, compated to a Sherpa Mini the Motor is moved back only ~1.5mm.
There is no need for the large spacing between the gears if you are not using the LGX tensioning mechanism. Unfortunately, if you move the gears closer together, the metal part of the intermediate gear collides with the metal part of the filament drive gear. To solve that issue, i ground down the front part of the intermediate gear, where neccessary, rendering the gears useless für other designs, where the front of the intermediate gear drives the filament drive gear.
Grinding the gear down was not exactly easy, but I have my prototype running quite smoothly. Haven't tried it in a printer though so far. :D
The step file includes an aproximation of the gears as reference, the stl contains the printed parts only.
If you don't already have the Gears, but want a slim ProtoXtruder, you should probably go for the ProtoXtruder 2.0 which unfortunately did not exist, when I started this. :D
