The solid 3D model here is not the product here – see the SVG as the laser-engraving source file.
I am cutting the doors for my custom enclosure to a size of 480x296mm. Inside, these hex-infill patterns are to be engraved by a CO2 laser.
I don't expect anyone will need exactly the size doors I have, but if you're in the ballpark, I recommend SmokeyHillDesigns as a good source for acrylic sheet.
The infill pattern design here was created as follows:
- Each pattern generated in PrusaSlicer as Gcode
- Exported to OBJ
- Converted to DXF
- Imported to vector graphics software (Affinity Designer 2) as 50,000+ line segments (oof!)
- Painstakingly cleaned up (by a vector-graphics novice) by expanding curve strokes into shapes and merging shapes until each hex pattern infill was a single, shape.
