Stackable spool holder using 10mm wooden dowels off of Amazon. I used 12" dowels for the horizontal runs and 6" for vertical.
I originally built this with 6mm dowels but it was really too wobbly. This version is much better and can be stacked higher if needed.
Each level holds 4 1kg, 200mm spools. I've built up to 3 layers but could go higher.
Each part has a left and a right version. You will need one left and one right per level. You can use the short version for the base if you want to save an inch or so of total height, or you can use the tall version for all layers.

My experience with cheap Amazon dowels is there's a bunch of dimensional variation even within the bag. The included F3D file has parameters for dowel size and a separate one for difference between the dowels. You can also scale the part for the vertical holes and then use the slicer's x-y comp to adjust the horizontal ones. Even then, don't be surprised if some dowels fit super tight and some are a little loose.
