A 6-dial Deej!

The deej project is a DIY physical volume mixer for your computer and you can read more about that on its git repo: https://github.com/omriharel/deej

This is my basic slim housing to get my volume knobs somewhere within reach but without taking up precious desk space. It's designed for 6 basic linear radial potentiometers and is keyed inside for the notch on the potentiometers.

There's also a “toaster” on the inside back for the pins on the rear of an arduino nano to sit in so that you can plug in a USB cable without needing to open the case to hold the arduino in place. This is designed for the USB mini-B connector so modifications may be necessary if your nano has a different style (.step and .f3d files attached too).

Be sure to rotate the parts before you slice with the flat part facing downwards!

A brief parts list:

  • Filament for the housing
  • 1x Arduino nano with pins soldered
  • 30awg wire (or larger) and female/female jumpers
  • 6x linear (not logarithmic) radial potentiometers & knobs
(any resistance will do, the deej github explains in more detail)
  • Solder & a soldering iron
  • A usb cable to connect your arduino to your PC

Assemble the wiring following the diagram in the deej github, flash the arduino sketch on the deej github, run the deej program from the github and you're good to go!
