Easily add magnets to the axle to keep your loco's chuff in sync:

  • The wheels and gear do not need to be removed from the axle
  • No fiddling with glue and screws
  • The position of the magnetic wheel can be adjusted after installation

What you need:

  • 4 pieces of round magnets 3mm x 2mm
  • 1 piece of hall sensor (e.g. Infinion TLE4906L - note the voltage of your loco's sensor connector) and some wire
  • 2 pieces of magnet ring halves
  • 1 piece of gear box holder (part 1 of 2)
  • 1 piece of hall sensor holder (part 2 of 2), short or long, depending on how the gear wheel is mounted on the axle

How to install the hall sensor (which faces the magnets on the axle):

  • Slide the sensor holder into the gear box holder (the round axle cut-out is at the bottom and the cable guide is at the top)
  • Carefully spread the sensor connections and insert them through the holes in the holder
  • Bend the sensor so it is facing the axle
  • Solder the cables

How to install the magnet ring:

  • Identify the correct pole of the magnets and press them fully into the ring, no glue required, but note that a magnet cannot be removed once pressed in without destroying the ring
  • Put one magnet ring half onto the axle and slide the second half into it
  • Adjust the ring position on the axle so that the magnets align with the sensor and one magnet aligns with the crank pin - make sure the ring does not block the axle anywhere

Happy LGBing!
