Figured if I was going to enter an easter model contest I should have something made to order. The kids helped me settle on a place to hide easter eggs that was also a chicken bunny and I was directed away from duckie-ness multiple times by helpful critics.
This is designed to scale to contain an easter egg, led light or tiny toy.
For Easter night I printed v1 in a 4 hour print at 0.4 nozzle thickness in blue PLA, which was popular so I printed a second revision (with longer ears based on morning feedback) in 2 hours. Both went home with friends for Easter.
Subsequently I added the requested bunny legs, and then added some fun effects (low poly, two wireframe variants named Lacey (lots of little wires) and Scribbles (bigger structure)).
My current favorite use of this model is printing Lacey v3 in glow in the dark PLA and placing a led in it as a cool centerpiece that glows when you turn it off.
Versions:
- v1: prints fine, made the deadline for egg-hiding. Duck-like?
- v2 smoothed and domed the interior, softened the mohawk and lengthened the ears (morning feedback).
- v2.low-poly… if you want that techno flavor in your chicken bunny hidey hole. (Printed 3x at 45 minutes for friends)
- v3 more hen-like, added bunny legs. Incompatible back quarters may make things appear “splayed”, but the feathers and whatnots are a step up in detail etc. My harsher critics were happier with it.
- v3.low-poly… vivid lines (big 3mf for X1C included) (0.01 decimation with base mesh surgery after for print corrections)…. If I were putting these on a shelf as a hidey hole these'd probably be what I'd use.
- v3.lacey… wire-frame and subdivision for a voronai-like look. Prints at small scale, struggles without supports larger (I think it'd require a heftier retopologizing to make it work really well)
- v3.scribbles.v3… subdivision to wire-frame to subdivision for a bundled-stick look.
