This terrace pad model is designed to extend the life of deck boards by ensuring better ventilation and providing several key features:

  • 5mm Spacing Post: Ensures a consistent 5mm gap between deck boards, crucial for preventing moisture buildup and subsequent wood damage.
  • Removable Post: The spacing post can be easily removed to adjust spacing during installation, providing flexibility.
  • Minimized Contact Area: The design minimizes the contact area with the support beam, maintaining a 5mm gap to ensure optimal ventilation.
  • Pre-Prepared Weak Spots: Two weak spots allow for easy sectioning of the pad using common tools, enabling use of only half the pad on the terrace edges.

These features collectively enhance the durability and functionality of terrace installations by promoting effective ventilation and adaptability to specific installation needs.

FAQ: Is it cost-effective? Yes, it is cost-effective. The production cost of each pad is significantly lower than its retail price, although printing takes a considerable amount of time as only a limited number can be printed at once.

What material should be used for printing? PLA is recommended. The pads are placed under the deck boards, protecting them from direct UV radiation, which is the main cause of material degradation. The pads have already lasted one winter under the boards without any issues.

Are terrace pads necessary? Yes, they are. If the contact area is too large, the wood exposed to rain and moisture begins to rot very quickly. The pad ensures a 5mm spacing gap that facilitates the drying of the space between the boards.

What type of screws should be used to secure the decking boards? I strongly recommend using specialized stainless steel decking screws. I have used standard galvanized screws on several decks, and within a year, they degraded to the extent that most of them broke off due to the wood's expansion and corrosion.
