Challenge Coin Stand (No Supports Needed)

My coin case has slick shelves, so the coins had to lay flat on the shelves.  This was annoying when people wanted to actually look at them.  I designed these stands, to print super-fast without supports and to hold pretty much any size of challenge coin.

My largest ‘coins’ are just over 5mm thick, but I wanted the same stands to be able to hold the smaller coins as well.  The angle of the back strikes a pretty good balance between visibility and stability.

I'd recommend printing one at 100% size and testing it on your largest/smallest coins in your collection.  If you print them too large, they will appear bulky and have too much wiggle room to secure the coin.  If too small, the coins will tip over too easily when someone wants to pick up the one next to it.  Just be sure the size is good for your actual collection before you go printing 50 of them (like I did).  

My first batch (pictured in the photo) work okay, but were bit small.  I redesigned them--this model is the re-design.  I never published the first version.  I intend to print/replace them all with this version in the very near future.
