I am building a enclosure for my 3d printer based around the IKEA Platsa cabinet and wanted to have a way to run my BentoBox / Enclosure exhaust fan until any potential fumes etc. have been filtered out. So I decided to include a VOC and PM2.5 sensor using an ESP32 as a controller for fans and the sensors.
The connection interface between the two components is a Molex Mini-Fit jr. Connector (basically a 4-pin CPU connector).
PSU Box
The "PSU-Box" consists of three parts, the basic case, the plug wall and the top. In the pictures the plug wall uses magnets, but I was not satisfied with the structural integrity of those so the 3d models now use a screw based approach (which is also used for mounting the c14 plug & switch combo).
Parts needed:
- 2x Wago 221-413 with 5 connections
- 1x MW 5V PSU
- 4x Fuse holder with screw caps
- Fuses
- 1x C-14 plug
- 1x 4-Pin Molex Mini-Fit jr. Housing
- Boost Converter
- M3, M2.5, M2 Heatinserts + Screws, I used those from CNC Kitchen
- A USB-C connector for the raspberry pi
Sensor Case
The case with the sensors and ESP32 that should go into the enclosure is not finished yet, that's why this is a WIP.
But here is a rough outline what this will contain:
- SGP41 - VOC sensor
- SHT30 - Temperature & Humidity Sensor
- PSM5003 - PM2.5 sensor
- Relay to power leds on/off (for LED mounting see additionally used models)
- IRLZ34N Mosfet to control the BentoBox fans
- Noctua NF-F12 iPPC-3000 (see additionally used models for mount)

The ESPHome configuration for the ESP32, a rough connection diagram and a detailed outline of the project can be found on Github (also WIP).
