My take on a 3d printed case for the Glasgow Interface Explorer. I designed this case to fit the latest (at the time of writing, C3) revision of the Glasgow board as delivered by the crowdsourcing campaign.

For the 3d printed parts I recommend printing against the bed of the printer and tuning your printer very well for small holes! I used carbon fiber ABS for my prints but pretty much anything should work as long as it prints with good accuracy.

To finish assembly of the case you will need the following non printed components:

  • 12x ~6.5mm long 1.75mm clear PETG or PLA filament pieces to use as light pipes. Use your nicest side cutters or a very keen razor blade to get the best finish.
  • 4x M3x14 FLAT head (ISO10642) screws
  • 4x M3x4mm long heat set inserts (like these)
  • A Glasgow PCB!

Install the heat inserts on the lower half, insert the light pipes on the top half, then asemble both halves around the PCB and screw together.

I included the editable FCStd FreeCAD file of the case. Please note that this was created using the development version (0.22.0dev.37302). It may not open properly on any older version.
