This linear stage is a remix of the original design found here: https://www.printables.com/model/453719-linear-stage-updated/comments/1708600
I've done a few things to make it more usable:
- Improved the durability of the lead screw by thickening and improving the interface with the base.
- Added a channel and some holes for a rubber band to provide a constant force on the stage eliminating some of the backlash.
- Improved the locking mechanism that holds the screw in place
The design is fully printed with the exception of the rubber band and M3 bolts, though I have no doubt you could print a band yourself from TPU or some other flexible material. I printed some of the original design I remixed here but they broke really easily so I decided to improve it with the aforementioned changes. The new locking mechanism to hold the lead screw in place should just be a push fit if your printer is accurate enough, but if not print over size and use a soldering iron or some glue to fasten it in place. I'd also recommend adding some thick silicone grease to the stage and screw to make it much smoother.
The pictures of the design I've posted are all printed in PLA, with the exception of the top mounting plate (light grey piece with loads of holes in it) that's printed in PA6-GF. You can find that top plate and a few other compatible plates here:

I used these in my lab to position and move some experiments and we've since printed a whole bunch of them and they're in use across the lab. This new version remixed by myself is holding up remarkably well. We're experimenting using HIPS for the lead screw and nut and then CF-PET and PA-6-GF for the rest of the rest of the body as we work with harsh solvents that have a nasty habit of dissolving PLA. Please comment below if you have any questions, I'm currently working on an improved version of the angle and rotary stages also by the original creator and will post those remixes here as well when they're done and tested!
I have since re-designed this completely from the ground up fixing a whole bunch of issues. Find it here, its a new form factor and not compatible with this older version: https://www.printables.com/model/1180242-easy-linear-stage-v2-gridfinity-compatible
