Working on other projects, I needed a spring, didn't know what I was doing so through some research and experimentation, this is what I have so far

Notes

  1. Work in progress, final f3d final will be added when a few more kinks ironed out
  2. Prints with no supports
  3. All in PLA, not tested in other filament types
  4. First picture(s) are 0.1mm layer height and the last picture is a rough 0.28mm
  5. The bigger the layer height…
    1. the bigger the overhang which makes it look bad
    2. the spring is more elastic with less resistance, i.e. less load required to compress

Current problems/solutions

  1. Need to address the top portion of the print where the overhang of the top ring prints weirdly and streaks across (could just be my print settings in cura)

STL default dimensions

Note - final image are the user params in fusion that you can modify

  1. height - 60mm
  2. thickness - 3mm
  3. width - 5mm
  4. pitch - 9mm
  5. inside diameter - 11mm
  6. outside diameter - inside diameter + 2*width
  7. fillet - 0.4mm
  8. chamfer - 0.8mm
