A Corsi-Rosenthal box (air filter) using four 140mm computer fans and two Ikea Starkvind filters. It's quiet, low-power, and the filters are cheap to replace. Materials needed:
- 3mm plywood
- wood glue
- machine screws and nuts sized to fit your fans
- four 140mm computer fans that chain together. I used Arctic PWM PST fans
- four fan guards, either bought or 3d-printed
- two Ikea Starkvind filters
- 12V 2A DC power supply adapter.
- DC Power Supply Plug to 3-Pin and 4-Pin PC Fan Power Adapter Cable
- cable-management grommet, about 15 or 16mm diameter
Note: the filters are currently a very tight friction fit - you may wish to adjust the files a little to give a mm or so more space.
To use, finish the wood as you like and glue together, then screw in the fans and fan guards so that air is blown out of the box. Connect the fans to each other and the power adapter and run the cord out through the hole in the back. Push filters firmly into their slots, and you're done!
