I created this new printable wing-NUT to replace the broken plastic ones on the handle of my 14 year old lawn mower. Designed in ALIBRE Atom3D. By using a rotary cutting tool I removed the metal nut from within the broken nuts. These metal nuts closely resemble the wheel nuts of a bicycle.

Printing Info
- 6 walls
- 5 top/bottom layers
- 0.24 layer height
- print speed: 100mm/Sec or faster
- ABS material
- 45% infill
- Support = YES (outside of part only)
- use the TREE supports for easier control and removal
- threshhold angle = 30 deg
- use the SUPPORT PAINTING tool in your slicer to prevent supports being placed inside of the nut
- supports should only be added to the underside of the wings of the plastic body.
Print Pause
The printed file requires that you pause the print at the correct layer in order to insert your existing nut into the nut body. My (Flashforge 5M PRO) pauses at the beginning of the selected “pause layer”.
My printer paused at Layer 32 when printing at 0.24 layer height.
Note: the printing process while covering over the inserted metal nut may appear to be messing up badly, but it does correct itself in a couple of layers. It will be fine!!!
