A remix of my BX-15 mag shell with a Ruger logo added on both sides.  The logo is a taller resized version of one made by AFKGottaPoop over on thingiverse.

Added a version 2:

Updated with the bottom screw and the front upper screw moved down.  The bottom screw is now easier to put in.

Information:

This is a basic shell for the BX-15 magazine.  It is just a cover.

Since the BX-15 is big magazine I tried to make it as thin as possible so the magazine isn't that much bigger.  But it does make it a bit square.  It should not affect magazine function but test it before using it in an SD situation.

There is an MMU3 version 3MF file for three colors or a regular version with three color changes.  These are for a MK4 or MK3.9.  Change to your printer and setup of course.

Print in PLA PLUS or better.  Do not use regular PLA or it will break.  There is some tension on this so that it doesn't slide around on the magazine.

Be careful removing supports near the lower sides by the pegs.  It is weakest in those areas and it could break with too much force.  See pictures.

Make sure the two pegs inside the shell halves are clear of any residue/supports etc..  The left hand shell peg has a hole in the middle.  Make sure that is clear. See picture

To assemble you will need three M3-30 screws with round heads and three M3 nuts.  You will also need one longer M3 bolt (35 or 40 will work) to pull the nuts into their slots.  The nuts go in the LEFT shell.  Start with the bottom screw.  Use the longer bolt and tighten the nut so it pulls down into the plastic below the surface.  Don't over tighten.  Then remove the longer bolt and screw in the M3-30. Again don't over tighten.  The ring around the nut in the plastic may break, but it won't affect anything.

There are some little “mouse ears” on the sides by the top screw holes.  These are thin and may not print depending on your layer height and slicer.  They just help with the first layer if the sides don't stick to the build plate well.  You can break these off after printing.

See my other BX-15 and BX-25 remixes for logos or add your own.

Thanks to AFKGottaPoop for the logo.
