This adapter allows you to bring your own USB C cable to use in the FormD T1 v2.

I made this because I couldn't get my hands on one of the official cables when the case originally released and my motherboard doesn't support the current Type-E connector.

Features

  • Window to confirm your USB is fully socketing
  • Small bump to sandwich the cable against the front panel

Included my prototype version without the bump in case anyone finds it useful.

Notes

Cable Choice

I used this cable from AliExpress (F1A-T7B).

Originally choose the 30cm version.  However, when upgrading to the 4080S, I had to reroute from behind to over the PSU to keep the back fan from rubbing.  This introduced several tight folds in the cable and made it taught.  So, depending on your components and routing you may want to go up to 40cm.

I only designed this for a flat cable, but the part stops at the end of the PCB on mine. This may or may not work on other types.

Installation

You must remove the metal socket from the USB C end of the cable before installing as the PCB needs to stick partially into the front panel hole.  This can be done with some nippers or if your cable's socket was pressed you may be able to un-do the clips holding it down.  Either way be careful not to damage the PCB or pads.

If your cable is too loose once installed, you may want to try adding some electrical tape on the PCB as a shim.

Print Settings

I printed in PETG.  Recommend 0.12mm layer height, no supports.  Print with screw holes on plate.
