This is the case for an ESPHome based presense and environmental sensor. The code for ESPHome and the HomeAssistant cards is on GitHub https://github.com/withanhdammit/ESPHome-Presence.
This project uses a 24GHz mmWave sensor (LD2410C) as well as the BME680 for environmental sensing. It's designed to plug directly in to a Nekmit USB adapter (available on Amazon, link to all parts included in my GitHub page).
The GitHub link also includes the soldering/circuit diagram for wiring the components, as well as the full BOM to build this project.
You can use the Presence Sensor in your automations, I use mine with NodeRed to control lighting and fans.
