My filament storage box was overflowing. My filament purchases did not cease. Something had to be done.

My Stupid Simple Filament Storage makes use of inexpensive adjustable track and bracket shelving systems mostly because tracks were already attached to the wall in the closet where I keep my 3D printer. Matching shelf brackets were easily (and inexpensively) sourced from a local home improvement store. I used scrap copper pipes held parallel by 3D printed spacers to bear the weight of the filament spools, the whole mess resting on the shelf brackets.

The track and bracket shelving system I used is made by Knape & Vogt under the John Sterling name but any similar system should work. I picked 10" shelf brackets to extend out from the wall for easy reach.

The spacers hold the pipes a good distance apart for standard 1kg spools and the weird 700g spools from XYZ's cartridges. I'm sure larger spools will fit too though I don't have any at the moment to test with.

Print Material, Settings, and Notes

I used PLA and ABS. I printed four spacers per 6' shelf. PETG should also provide acceptable results.

I used 0.2mm layer height and 100% concentric infill.
