This was my first farm to table print,
I have an amazing old Pfaff 1222e sewing machine. I woke it up and flicked the take up lever which crumbled in my hands,…
this left the knurled metal pivot intact but no way to turn it. I measured the old one and reproduced it as a 3d model with allowances for 3d printing strength.
To fit it, I heated just the tip of the knurled end of the metal take-up pivot, not glowing but above PLA softening temperature. Once the tip is heated, press fit on the printed part.
When it cools it makes a nice solid connection. just like a normal heat insert.
