All you need for this modification is this small USB-C board and a 5 Pin JST SH 1.0 connector.
The old wired Spacemouse Compact uses the same 5 Pin connector for USB. But due to the metal housing it is more difficult to modify it with USB-C.
To disassemble the Spacemouse Pro, there is a screw under each one of the rubber feet and 3 extra screws under the sticker. To remove the original cable, you have to undo one screw which clamps the cable in place and then you can just unplug it from the PCB.
For the correct pinout of the connector to the USB-C PCB, refer to the image I attached. Don't rely on the colors of the wires! The colors are always different when I order this connector. Two of the wires go to GND. For the others it is one each.
Next you need to increase the size of the hole to 12mm. I recommend using a step drill, to stay centered.
Next you can insert the 3D printed part from the outside and slide the USB-C PCB in from the inside which should be a tight fit and prevent the 3D printed part from coming lose. I added a drop of superglue, but I don't think it is necessary.
Now you are finished with the modification and should have a Spacemouse Pro that you can use with any USB-C cable.
