I wanted something to move my SUP easily when I need to walk some longer way to the river or sea. Commercial stuff from the internet was to expensive and so I build it myself.
This SUP Trolley (SUP Finn Wagon, as I call it ;) ) can be easily mounted into the US Fin Box of my SUP. Currently it is a bit wobbly, because the Fin part is 8.6mm thick and the US Box is around 9mm. So I have some space and its wobbly. But it still has good stability.
The length of the axis itself is currently 140mm. There are some holes in the fin part so if needed you can add a small M4 screw which keeps the rail inside the fin box.
I also added holes for M4 screws in case I have to add more stability to the side. Currently all the force is held by the small fin part which introduces wobble. I will add some parts to mount into these holes.
All versions (I uploaded) can be printed on a Prusa Mini (Slicer tells me 18h-26h). I printed it on my Voron in about 7-8h.
Suggested Print Settings with 0.4mm Nozzle:
- PETG (not brittle, about <300g)
- 5 - 6 Perimeters
- 40% infill
- 5 Top/Bottom Layers
- (optional): use 0.6mm Nozzle
Parts needed:
- Printed part
- 215mm M8 threaded rod (also depends on the tires you will use)
- Wheels with M8 holes (I used street scooter wheels with bearings and of course LEDs)
- 2x M8 Lock nuts
- 2x M8 washers with outer diameter 24mm
- 2x M8 washers with outer diameter 15mm (these are in contact with the bearings of the wheels, so check they don't block the bearings)
- SUP Fin Screws with plate
Assembly:
- insert threaded rod
- put on M8x24mm washers then M8x15mm washers
- put on wheels and M8x15mm washers
- close with M8 lock nuts
Mounting on SUP:
Just mount it same as a normal fin.
I tested it now and it is awesome. I can move my SUP easily. When I'm on the spot, I just remove it and put on the fin. This trolley is so small, it just fits inside my drybag. But it tends to wobble from side to side.
Please:
If you have issues - especially with the Slide In Fin Trolley - please tell me. I only have a SUP with US Box (and still there are different lengths) and could not properly test the Slide In Fin Version (but test print looked good ;) ).
If you print the model, also please consider posting a make. Thanks!!
Update 20240712:
After testing I created a new version with an length (height on build plate) of 160mm and I also increased the axis length by 20mm to 160mm. This should give more side stability.
Update 20240719:
Added SUP Trolley Version for Slide In Fin System. I added a picture of a test print for the Slide In Fin.
Also added new SCAD file.
