Fits up to 3 Raspberry Pi 3, 4 or 5 in a 19inch rack. (not tested with older Rpi but may very well work)

This is modulable design that allow for up to three Raspberry Pi per U featuring :
- Fits RPi4 (and probably RPi3 and RPi2 but not tested) and RPi5
- Can fit an additional NVME Board from Pimoroni that comes under the RPi5
- An 0.96'' OLED screen that can be sourced from almost anywhere but also from here
- A 5x5 push button
- A 6.5mm hole that I use to fit an atenna when I need one.
- Has room for an extra Hat on top of the Pi (PoE in my case).
I have not uploaded all possible combination but don't hesistate to ask…
How to build it
- Choose three modules that fits your need
- For the module that will be at the right, download the SR version, for the two others, download the SL version.
- I printed them face down with support only for the connection point on the SL version. the SR version is printed without support. I use either PLA or PETG, both work fine though PETG has a tendency to create a lot of string on this model ;)
- You then need to assemble all three pieces together using the same screws and nuts that you use to attach them in the rack later on. (the nut is removed from its cage).
- The result will be a 19inch long plastic piece that bends quite a lot, specially when you press one of the buttons or try to plug a network cable or USB. The little ears at the back of the support are there to slide a 3mm threaded rod all the way long which will stiff the whole assembly. You can also use two shorter threaded rod instead (you can find 250mm rods almost everywhere but I use 1m rods that I cut to lenght).
- Mount the RPi using appropriate spacers and Voila !
Additional thoughts
- Heat is always an issue in a rack and the RPi 4 and 5 are quite some players in this area. I found the active cooler present o the PoE hat of the Pi5 let it stay under 40°C even under high load. On the RPi4, I use a passive cooling which works fine but those are under less pressure.
- I've seen some RPi racks where the display connector and SD card slot were redirected on the front. Could be an option for later but I haven't find the need for that so far.
- I use this button to turn the screen on as those OLED screen have a tendency to fade away with time when you let them ON all the time. So my script monitor the button, when pressed, it turn the OLED On for 5 minutes and then turn it off again.
