All you need is a earring hook (or a ring for keychains), 4 or 5 filaments of the right colors and a 0.25 nozzle.
I uploaded the PrusaSlicer project because it is where I created the design, and I have already assigned the best order to the extruders to obtain a defined look of the design.
![]() | Look at the W logo. In this test piece, I have printed it after the blue ball, and the result is a low defined W. So plase, do not change the order of the extruders! |
Let me list some important features and caveats of this project:
![]() | Wapuu will be printed face down, so it has already been mirrored. To achieve the best results, please check your bed quality and remove any stringing during the tool change process, to avoid strings in your final object (as you can see in the picture aside) |
![]() ![]() | You will find a negative cube on the hook to facilitate the loading of the printed Wapuu on an earring. You can safely remove it if you think you don't need it. |
![]() | The selected material is all PETG, but you can still mix different materials, knowing that, if you are using a mix of PLA and PETG, the layers of the back must be printed in PETG. If you add some colors in PETG but use the PLA to add depth, it is likely that some PETG parts will stick on your printing bed instead that on the printed piece (as you can see in the picture aside: black and green was PETG, transparent was PLA. As a result, the adhesion to the printing bed of the PETG colors has been higher than the one to the rest of the printed piece.) |
![]() | I think I have found a good value for the height of the final piece, but if you want to raise or lower it, consider that I have added it as a part. This means that the Z position of this part (I have called it "back") can be calculated like this: height of the back/2 + first layer height |
![]() | I did not use the wiping tower because I have to manually change the colors, so I do not need to automatically purge the nozzle, and, anyway, it was not fixing an issue of the MMU: after the color change, the nozzle returns to the last coordinate of the design instead to start from the coordinate in the new color (as you can see in the picture aside). I thought this bug was fixed (released in PrusaSlicer 2.7.2-alpha2 with this PR), but it is fixed only for color changes on layer changes, not on the same layer. So… |
I created a post processing script to handle the color change issue and to remove the tool change added at the beginning, that is very annoying and useless. You can find it in the files of the project, please download it and link it into Print Settings → Output options → Post-processing scripts. The script will be automatically run by PrusaSlicer and will create a second gcode file (sorry, no binary gcode!) beside the original one. You decide the name, the script adds a "post_processed" suffix. The script will modify a custom gcode I added for the tool change in PrusaSlicer. |
