Here is my OpenSCAD parametric hook generator, that makes a hook to go on cordage or straps around a tree, to be a temporary hanger of packs and gear, to take them up off of the (wet)ground.

One of the biggest battles camping, or in my case hunting, is getting at your gear without being bent over all the time, being able to do it standing, comfortably. And 2nd is doing so where your pack/gear is UP off the ground out of the wet/dirt.

This hook, and its accessories are my way of accomplishing this.  There are a couple designs that do this already on Printables, but nothing big/strong enough, nor variable enough for what I wanted.

This is primarily designed to go on 1" web strap, in my case left over from broken ratchet or cinch straps. A wide flat strap grips the trunk much better than rope or 550 paracord.  It also can't damage the tree near as easy.    And about 6' set up as a 3' doubled adjustable sling, with the double D buckle rings added, can be use to sling carry my bag, AND used with this hook.

Hook generator is parametric for;

  •  base thickness
  • hook width
  • hook opening diameter
  • hook outer arm height
  • base length both top and bottom
  • 1 or 2 straps
  • strap slot locations
  • Also has an option to use rope instead of Flat strap, with rope size parameter.

The generator for strap hardware is here;

https://www.printables.com/model/973217-parametric-web-strap-connector-d-ring-ladder-ring

with all sorts of options on strap width, thickness, center distance, attachment holes, and more.

For this upload I have included the D rings and ladder sliders I use, in 1". The ladder sliders I use are slotted for fast in and out of strap; I have also included solid sliders.

I print everything with around 20% Gyroid, and 3 or 4 walls @0.8mm. Thats 6 to 8 walls @ 0.4mm!   4 or 5 layers top and bottom, 0.3mm thick. Extremely strong!  The wider bases are offset upward for easy no support printing, doesn't really effect use, they are still very stable.
