Modular folding paint bottle rack

This is a modular paint bottle rack.
It folds down flat to about 75mm height so it fits in low spaces.
Multiple racks can be connected to form one large rack.

A single rack takes up 75mm in width, each additional rack takes up another 60mm.

There are two lengths: a 12 bottle version which takes up 285mm when folded down and a 10 bottle version which takes up 245mm folded down.

Non printable parts (well you could try to print this stuff and it may even work)

• 12mm M3 button head screw (or any other 12mm ish 3mm ish object), about 5 or 6 per rack)
• 16 or 20mm M3 button head screw (or any other 18mm ish 3mm ish object), 2 per rack
• M3 button head screws for mounting the base, 3 per rack

Everything must be printed flat on the bed or some parts like the claws that hold the bottles and the hinge pin will not be strong enough.

Also because the beams have fairly large cutouts to house the shelves they need to be printed with a strong filament with good layer adhesion.
I have tried with Sunlu matte pla and Sunlu pla+, the matte pla was barely strong enough and feels like it could break if a cat jumps on it and the regular pla+ felt twice as strong and doesn't feel iffy at all.

Assembly instructions:

Rack beam:

• 12x version glue the 2 parts together.
• Insert the hinge pin into the hole at the bottom of the beam. (it does not need to be perfectly centered but it helps in later stages of assembly)
• insert paint bottle shelves into the beams.
  Start at the hinge side with Shelf Bottom and secure it in place with an m3 x 12mm bolt.
  (this hole is just used to secure the shelves in place, optionally any other round 3mm thick object could be used or even just some glue).
• Next attach Shelf L and then Shelf R in the same way and keep alternating Shelf L and R until all the spots are occupied.
• Attach the Rack Stand to the Rack beam with two m3 bolts 16 or 22mm in length. (optionally any other 3mm cylindrical object can be used as long as it allows the Rack stand to rotate)

Base:

• Click the single claws into the square holes in the Base Front. You might need to remove burs or elephant foot to get them to fit in the hole.
• Line the front edge of the Base Front up against the wall of the enclosure you are installing it in (eg. in a drawer or shallow bin).
• Line the left or right side up with the enclosure wall by using the spacing template or use the fully assembled Rack beam as a guide.
• Attach the Base Front in a way of your choosing.
  There are 3 ways the base can be attached to something: glue, m3 bolt straight into what is underneath or with a backing plate and washers underneath.
  If these mounting options are not sufficient i am willing to add more if requested.
• Use the spacing template to line up the stand stop and attach it to the enclosure like the Base front.
• Click the Rack Beam Hinge pin into the two claws, this is easiest when the top end of the rack is lifted up above 20 degrees (about 5cm/2inch)
  You can press on the bottom shelf while doing this if you chose to properly secure it.
• Optionally attach the other Rack beams to the Base front, when it seems the Rack beams are interfering with each other preventing assembly, rotate either of them to make the Shelves slot into each other or check if a Hinge pin that is not centered enough is causing interference.
• Optionally join the individual Rack beams together by bridging the top closed bottom shelf slots with the Top connector.
  The slots would otherwise be blocked by the enclosure but if not, they have 15mm holes were other things could be attached to, eg. a paint brush stand.
• Optionally Connect the Rack stands together with the Rack stand Brace.
  This clicks into place by squeezing it with a decent amount of force.
  if it doesn't some deburring might be needed at the top edge of the round cutouts in the Rack stand brace.
  getting it into place behind/under the mostly assembled rack may be fiddly, another option is assembling the whole 1x/2x/3x/4x rack out of the enclosure, installing the Rack stand brace, and then clicking the whole rack into the Base front at once.
  The rack can also be removed in one piece like that. (Single claws may come out but they are easily put back)
• Optionally fill the rack with paint!
  If you do, you might notice not all bottles fit as nicely as the others.
  I don't know about other brands but i discovered that white cap Vallejo paint bottles are slightly larger than black cap Vallejo bottles…

The 12 bottle rack is too long (on my printer) to print flat in one piece so i made it into 2 separate pieces that need to be glued together.
I used superglue and baking soda for filling some tiny gaps for this but i think just superglue should be good enough.

10 bottle version:
