Overview
This is a drawer that adheres to the gridfinity ethos as closely as I could handle:
It has a 4x4 grid on the top, in the drawer, and on the bottom, so:
They can be fitted to a gridfinity base, or be used as the base
The drawer accommodates any size 3U height box up to a 4x4 size - perfect for screws, nuts, washers, heat set inserts, spool clips or any other component you want to organise.
You can stack the drawers on top of each other, or on other boxes, or other boxes on top of the drawers
The height of the complete drawer frame is 7U so no worries with uneven tops - it conforms to the gridfinity standard
The top and bottom plates can be fitted with magnets, and the drawer with either magnets or m3 cap heads.
Printing
The drawer frame is printed in 3 separate parts - to avoid supports - and then glued together after.
The STL's are saved in the orientation I printed them, but for those who want to use the STEP files:
The frame body is printed vertically sitting on it's back. The top is printed the right way up, and the base can be printed either way up - whichever floats your boat. The drawer is printed flat
It's been designed for a .4mm nozzle laying a .5mm bead. I printed it at a .16 layer height (I wasn't in a hurry) in PLA
Departure for the ethos
Because I didn't want to waste space in the drawer, the frame is wider than a standard grid, but don't worry I've designed a narrow box that fits the otherwise wasted bays - it can be found here
