Introduction

This is a small modification of Prusa Enclosure which offers an easy way how to install and tidy up camera installation from a Raspberry Pi board.

I am including open-source software (installer script) for the camera software setup.

The aim was that Everyone could connect a camera and have a stable feed of images sent to the Prusa Connect for monitoring.

I am referencing and recommending other models for the camera housing and mounting arm which are nearly necessary to download as well as some of their remixes.

What you need

Few things to buy, a few things to print, and some fasteners from the spare parts of the Prusa Original Enclosure.

What you need to buy (non-printable parts)

  • Raspberry Pi 4 (Official website)
  • Raspberry Pi Camera Module v3 (Official website)
  • 2x CSI/Ribbon cable (Google Search)
    • Use 2x 100cm or you can use
    • 1x 75cm and 1x 100cm
  • 2x CSI/DSI Extender Thingy (Google Search)
  • Fasteners (preferably use black colored)
    • M3x8 screw (7x) [DIN 912] - Found in the spare parts box of the Enclosure
    • M3n nut (7x) [DIN 934] - Found in the spare parts box of the Enclosure
  • Optionally Case for Raspberry by Cooler Master (Official website)
    • The case needs a few more fasteners:
    • M3x8 screw (1x) [DIN 912] - Spare part of Enclosure
    • M3nS nut (1x) [DIN 562] - Spare part of Enclosure

What you need to print

I am rather referencing the original models than include them here to support the original authors. So you will need a few parts from this model and also parts from other models.

See the Files section where I included a full-blown PDF Manual.

This model:

  • Enclosure Arm Mount (1x) from this model/project (see Files)
  • CSI Cable Mount (6x) from this model/project (see Files)
  • Optionally Enclosure Cooler Master Pi Mount (1x) from this model/project (see Files)
    • The Cooler Master Pi Mount is needed only if you decide to mount the Raspberry Pi in the Cooler Master case directly to the enclosure.

Software setup

I have prepared an installation script, the source code is open-sourced on GitHub. Executable binaries are being built in GitHub Actions and are available in the Releases section. Currently supporting only the arm64 Raspbian Trixie (possibly older versions might be supported as well), please feel free to create a pull request, issue, or comment here if you need another build.

If you are still interested go shopping and RTFM!

Don't forget to like, follow me, and share your print.

Happy Printing!
