Scale it as large as your like! I find the finish is best by printing in pieces and then gluing together.
Here are individual dice cores for casting around when making resin dice. The resulting effect is fairly striking, and doesn't have a significant impact on the fairness of the resulting dice when resin printed.
Print vertically from the base, brim recommended.
Feel free to print the pieces in the number and colors needed. Scaled for a standard 1" chess board. I recommend printing the crown in the opposite color and putting it on the king piece (or don't, do as you please!).
