I made this ball to be a decorative lamp. Turned out to be quite nice. The pattern is not like an card stack diamond. It is actually a polygon with 6 edges. Can you see it?
Part is designed and rendered with Fusion 360 and sliced with Simplify3D

Notes:
The walls are not steep so no supports are needed. I printed mine in Octofiber PETG, which is a bit translucent.
The model consists of two parts: the ball and the top diamnod. The diamond will fit in the ball with a little bit of force.Post-Printing
Assembly
- Drop the diamond inside the ball
- Shake the ball so that the tip of the diamond comes out of the hole
- Use something long to poke the diamond through the hole (I used a long ruler)
- Install lamp and enjoy!
