A small shape, that opens up like a lightsaber.

The assignment was to create an optical illusion/fidget, where the same shape would be more offset, mirrored, and angled, and expand and contract when moved.

I started by making a simple sketch, which for me was a circle with a hexagon going through it, to create 6 corners.

I then went and turned it into a single shape, and started offsetting it by 0.1 cm.

Next, I extruded (boss/base) the entire shape by 0.5 cm, with a 15-degree inward angle, and then cut the next line. I repeated the process multiple times, and then I printed it.

The print failed, and I realized that I extruded every other offset, instead of every single offset.

I fixed this, set the degrees to 25, and printed. However, the print still hadn’t worked, and I realized that I had set only half of the extrusions to 25, and the rest were still at 15.

I fixed this, set them to 30, and set the height to 1. I also put the other one to 35 and printed them both.

They both did, in fact, work, so it took around three tries to get the print good, and the angle was the perfect one to use.

I again tried an angle of 25, to see if it would work now that the height was 1.

This time, it also worked, so I decided to try 15 again.
