So, I have printed MANY of the clips found on this site.  And I had issues with each one of them. Either too loose, too tight, some requiring incredible dexterity or two hands maybe.

So rather than printing hundreds more I decided to design my own to meet my simple requirements, small, secure and fast printing. I also wanted it to be able to stay on the spool while printing so I added the anti-fowling tail to the bottom.

This is my 4th design iteration, I tweaked it several times to get the filament and spool retention I desired.

I have more spools of filament than a man my age probably should.  I have filament from about 5 different sources so far, and this clip fits all of them snuggly.  The filament snaps into place with a pleasing “CLICK” and holds it tight.  It's also low profile and easy on the vacuum bags, or a in a bookshelf style storage rack.

These the are printer settings I use to get a great bottom layer and adhesion without a brim.

  • Material:  PETG
  • Initial layer speed: 25 mm/s,
  • Initial layer flow:  110%.
  • Layer height:  0.15 mm
  • Nozzle temp:  230c
  • Bed temp:  70c.

I get 4 minutes per part.  On my Ender-3 S1+ with the Sonic Pad and Klipper firmware with a custom profile, on the latest Cure slicer.

BTW.  The Sonic Pad has been the greatest upgrade I've done! I'd highly recommend it!
