After replacing my old espresso machine with a new one, I struggled to completely give up the good old companion that had served me well for the last 15 years. So, how do you deal with a worn-out and filthy machine that you still somehow love? Keep it as a backup? Give it to the kids? Or… mess with it by changing its form factor and design?

I started liking the idea of trying case modding for espresso machines…

My first prototype still has some minor issues that I might fix in a future revision, but it’s already working.

If you (very unlikely) have an old QuickMill Classic Espresso with an integrated grinder you want to get rid of, why not start with this?”

Printing:

I used PET-CF to print the circuit board cover and the two upper parts of the model which gets exposed to temperature around 100°c / 212°F . The other parts are good to go with PETG.

Additional stuff you might need:

  • some M3 screws and heated inserts
  • 2x M4 screw and heated inserts
  • Water Bottle as fresh water reservoir
