Three sets of tilings together with boxes for storing are presented:
Set 1: Triangles, squares and hexagons, from which Euclidean tilings can be created. Many different tasks can be given to students:
- Create tilings with only one, exactly two or all three forms
- obey certain rules when creating tilings
- classify tilings according to their properties
- study the dual tilings with help of the additional lines
The box shown contains 60 triangles, 30 squares and 20 hexagons.
Many boxes may be used to create a tiling.
Set 2: Penrose tilings with box
Create nonperiodic tilings with two diamonds
Set 3: Einstein tiling with box
The recently discovered hat-like form that supposedly can fill the plane, but never periodically.
Sets 2 and 3 are rather for playing along since no periodic patterns can be created, and it is hard to understand why.
Printing: PLA in up to 4 colors, settings: 0.2mm quality.
Multiply copies of the tiles with help of the slicer.
