About the model
I looked forever for a compact sink organizer that would fit the about 10cm space between my sink and the wall and that would hold all brushes, sponge, and a small dish soap bottle. Since I did not find anything that would hold even the longer brushes securely and had no metal parts (since parts of my old organizer already starts to rust after only a few month of use), I decided to make my own design.
The organizer is designed to be 3D printed with cutouts to be able to clean every corner. I did not want to have two or more parts because the fit might become loose. But it should be possible to split the model and create a two-part version that snaps together for even easier cleaning of the bottom tray, if you really like.
Design
The model is designed to be stiff and stable, and to hold large brushes with relatively thick handles (it fits the large IKEA brush with ease for example). It's also designed with thick walls to have some weight to it (when you set the printing parameters accordingly), to stand stable even with large brushes sticking out of it.
The organizer fits spaces that are 10cm wide. You could of course scale the model, if you need a thinner version or want the design to be a bit thicker. The grooves on the base ensure that sponges and brushes dry more easily. The model prints without any support. All bridges should not be a problem for all printers.
A place to store the stopper is included, which should fit most of the standard black rubber ones, that are common and widely used. If you do not need this just place a negative volume over the crescent-shaped extrusion on the left side.
Printing
- 3-4 perimeter
- 10-15% infill
- 4-5 solid perimeters, depending on your layer height
- 0.2 - 0.3mm layer height (I chose 0.2mm for a cleaner, more homogeneous surface)
- No support needed
- Prints standing upright
- My Ender V2 had no problem with all bridges that are present in the model
