I made a wide version of the heater extension (and some remixes) of the (Un)Original Prusa Drybox. It is largely to help folks add various hardware and have an easier time at wiring. It is also built to optimize for arbitrary extensions.

The modifications to the components are summarized here:

  • Bram's original Heater Extension:
    • Widened the body to easily accommodate 3 MOSFETs
    • Added holes in the sidewall opposite the USB-C port for DC jacks (amazon link)
      • these jacks can be used to connect to LED light elements, or arbitrary powered applications.
      • you could put one jack behind any MOSFET or straight to power
        • an example might be putting a set or orange LED lights into a jack connected to the heater MOSFET – so that every time the heater was on, there would be an orange cast to the light in the drybox.
      • There is a model included to plug the holes if you do not wish to use this capability
    • added a 5mm diameter wirechannel that reaches from the base of the Arduino holder out to the box through the sidewalls – this could be used to enable arbitrary extensions of the system that require communication from the Arduino to another component somewhere in the drybox (not inside the Bracket-X)
    • added an obnoxious number of ziptie-tie-down points throughout the model for wire management
    • added M2(?) screw down points for the MOSFETs
    • added some mounting posts for the buck converter
    • spun the opening of the Z bracket towards the display for shorter shared wire runs between the DHT20 and the screen. added a cover over the DHT20 hole to the interior of bracket X
  • Duct:
    • I cut the clamps off of the top of the duct so they would be flush with the ceiling of the box, and slightly extended the sides around the wiring to the heater core and added M3 heat inset screw down points.
  • Y Bracket Remix:
    • I used the “screw through” approach that the remix leveraged, extending it a tad with the embedded M3N nut on the top side of the bracket.
    • I also carved out the wire channel to allow for DC disconnects for easier maintenance/extension of the heater assembly.

I printed all of the components here in PCCF at a .4mm nozzle/.2mm layer (MK4S .2mm Structural Profile).

All sources (in .step) are included in case you want to alter to your liking. A .f3d file of all of the objects is included in case you want to move the MOSFETs, zip tiedowns, etc around.
