Introduction
I built this system out of technical curiosity due to all commercial available units are for one very pricy and for my knowledge all use 230V AC to feed the single units wich means that every unit has an internal voltage converter and needs to be checked accordingly to DGUV v3 once a year. Also the cabeling is kind of special (PowerCon-Link).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My targets for this design:
- Minimizing building cost
- Using only one single power supply in the control unit
- Using Speakon connectors and cables that are widely distributed in AV and therefore cheap
- Indirect hinge release so cheaper/smaller actuator can be used
- Dual actuator units (getting two actuators for cost of one housing and set of connectors)
- Mounting to 50mm pipe with two 4.8mm zip ties
- Safe and easy operation
- Distributing release power with Speakon inherits risk of plugging a speaker: With 12/24V DC no damage can occur
- Use of antiparallel diodes in series to actuator coil: Only two conductors (NL2) needed for selective release of two actuators using reversed voltage polarity
- SpeakOn connectors wired on all four connections: Up to four selective releases can be realised with daisy chaining four conductor cable (NL4) using adaptor
- Quality of life features:
- Kabuki printable fully without support on 150x150mm printer (0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layerheigth)
- Controller printable nearly without support on Prusa-style printer (0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layerheigth)
- No post processing necessary
- Small packing size

Additional parts needed:
- 2x Actuator Hechen HS-0837 12V/24V (depending on your power supply)
- 4x self securing nut M4
- 4x cylinder head screw M4x25mm
- 4x self securing nut M4
- 8x washer M4
- 4x cylinder head screw M3x25mm
- 4x sink head screw M3x 8-12mm
- 2x Speakon connectors
- 4x diodes 3A 24V/48V (depending on your operating voltage) (I use MBRS 340 [3A 40V SMC] on custom pcb => 4x cylinder head screws M3x6-10mm for pcb needed)

Controller
Additional parts needed:
- 18x sink head screw M3x8-12mm
- 3x sink head screw M3x6-8mm (for powersupply, do not screw these in with force if there is blocking resistance)
- 2x momentary switches 22mm (max. heigth 50mm inside housing)
- 1x APEM HS 647 H2 dual momentary switch (DPDT)
- 2x Speakon connectors
- 1x Powercon Input connector
- 1x Powercon Output connector
- 1x LED 230V in socket (8mm)
- 1x generic open frame power supply 12V/24V 120W
The switch cap used is a derivative of this design.
