Relatively very easy-to-make calipers. Inspiration came from the battles I've fought attempting to get other models to print well. Maybe a skill issue on my end but alas.
Some things I still want to improve upon are:
- Increase overall tool size by ~25%-30% (the blade feels a bit tiny)
- Increase the numbers and halfway-marks visibility
- Fine-tune the head-body clearances (currently is a large 2mm total)
- In the one pictured, I used ~4 layers of electrical tape on the body ends to get it just right
- Fine-tune the profiles and size of the outside and inside measuring jaws
The settings I used on Ultimaker Cura (for PLA) that seemed to work well are:
- 12.5% Infill
- Zig-Zag Supports
- 0.5mm Support Horizontal Expansion
- Brim Build Plate Adhesion
- Kept coming off the plate mid-print without this
The supports are only for the head, and the way they were generated for me can be seen in the last picture. For the supports for the top of the blade holder, I squeezed them at the bottom with needle nose pliers until the snapped and then was able to pull out the length as one piece.
