Christmas star | Moravian star

This model of moravian star is made  of 30 seperate pieces. 26 of them (the tips of the star) are printed in vase mode, which gives them nice looking faces and also transparency, which is needed when you are planning to add some lights into it. 4 remaining pieces are used for inner construction.

All the spikes are simply glued right onto the constructions parts. As you can see on one of the pictures I also added some lights into it and it works beautifully. For the lights I used 5 Leds removed from some cheap light chain and I soldered them together. And it came out really well.

You can also use whole small light chain if you don't want to solder anything.

Printing

The whole star is made from 30 parts.

Other parts are printer like this:

2x:

star_inner_1 - printed with supports

2x:

star_inner_2 - printed without supports

17x:

star_tip_4 - vase mode

for faster and more efficient printing use "sequential printing".

(if you want only the basic star without lights and witout possibillity to hang the star, you print this 18x).

8x:

star_tip_3 - vase mode

1x:

It's optional if you print star_upper_tip_cut or star_upper_tip_hanging.

If you want to have possibility to hang the star you would like to print 
star_upper_tip_hanging - normal mode (in vase mode it's impossible).

but if you want to add the lights inside it's easier with star_upper_tip_cut - vase mode
(I hot glued the cable from lights to this parts so I could hang the star in the air).

Changes from previous version:

• Ends of tip are chamfered for better printing.
• Added upper tip for hanging the star.
• Slightly modified shape of the tips.
